Driving in Panama

The PanAmerican way is divided in two by the Panama Canal, and it's exciting to think the whole continent got apart by the Panama Canal and put back together by the Bridge of the Americas, and lately by the Centenario Bridge.

This PanAmerican Road in Panama is doubled-lane and it's very well maintained by the Panamanian government.

The legal speed limit is 60km/hr in cities and
100 km/hr on highways. Driving above these limits
may result in fines with the possibility of losing your
license. Most international driving licenses are accepted
in Panama but check with the rental company to be sure.
Some of the rental companies provide a car with a driver.
A blood alcohol level of aby kind is not tolerated, as well
as talking on a cell phone while driving. Not wearing
seats belts is also prohibited.
